Out of View
(Submissions due November 1st. The sooner the better.)
Have ever finished a drawing in a sketchbook (or wherever) and wondered "What the hell?". As artists we can sometimes surprise ourselves but won't share these drawings with others. That's what this show is all about. Weird drawings.
And yes, you can be anonymous if you want. Ha!
—------
Once you’ve read through everything below here is how to apply to the show.
- Go to FKM’s Instagram page @fkmdotart and send a message saying “I’d like to submit a drawing for Out of View.”
- We will request some info and then you can send a photo of your drawing and the info.

What to Expect (If something is not listed here please email phil@fkm.art and your requested info will be added here.)
- Timing:
- Submissions are due November 1st 2024. Artists will be notified before November 5th whether they were selected or not. Then the contract needs to be signed and art in the mail no later than November 9th to arrive by the 15th.
- If you live in Minnesota and wish to drop off your drawing you’ll be sent a list of drop off times and instructions.
- Out of View will open on the morning of November 29th. You can stop by anytime during the day or join us for the evening opening starting at 6pm. If you’re Black Friday shopping and want a pause, grab a coffee at Starbucks across the street and come in to say hi.
- The show will run until January 25th 2025.
- There will be a closing event on January 25th 2025.
- Many of the drawings will be scanned/photographed and put into book of the show and will be available for purchase. Any artist in the show can get up to 3 copies at cost (more on this later).
- Art Hanging:
- Digital drawings will be giclee printed on archival paper at the gallery.
- No Frames. Your loose drawing will be mounted with rolled artist tape on a piece of foamcore and mounted to the wall. If you’re not comfortable with this mounting method please do not submit.
- If your drawing is delicate please do not submit it. (We will take great care of all drawings but sometimes people draw on delicate papers. If you send in a drawing that is too delicate we won’t display it.)
- Salon Style - There will be many artworks in this show. Not a select few.
- Artist with multiple drawings in the show:
- Not all artworks will be displayed at the opening but at least 1 drawing from each artist will be placed for the opening. If an artist’s drawing(s) arrive after November 15th it’s not guaranteed that at least one piece will be in the show.
- Sale:
- We are completely understanding of artists not wanting to sell their works but as a gallery we need to make work available to collectors.
- FKM is a typical gallery with a 50/50 split. You pick the sale price. The recommended price range is between $30-300. If your asking price is above or below this range that is totally fine.
- As works are sold they will be immediately removed from the wall and given to the Collector unless the Collector wishes for it to remain on view until the end of the show. A new drawing will be put in its place.
- Unsold:
- The Gallery will return any unsold drawings postmarked within 30 days of the show closing. The show closes on January 25th 2025. If you are in Minnesota, you’re welcome to come in and pick up your work. You must pick up your own work or communicate ahead of time that someone else will pick it up. Pick up time slots will be shared at the show's closing.
- FKM may ask if you’d like us to hold onto the drawing and keep trying to get it in the hands of a collector.
- Printed digital drawings will be kept at FKM to get them in the hands of a collector. If they have not sold after 1 year they will be respectfully undone.
- International:
- FKM is in Minnesota in the United States. If you are outside of the United States we ask that you only submit a digital work. Shipping internationally is costly and safety of artwork is not guaranteed.
